Privacy Policy

Who we are

Quran: Al Mu'min is a quiet Quran reading and recitation companion with prayer times, qibla direction, and adhan reminders, operated by Snowah. For any privacy question, contact hello@snowah.com.

We are the data controller for the processing described here under the GDPR.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what the Quran: Al Mu'min mobile app does with information. It does not cover third-party services that have their own policies, which we link where relevant.

What we collect and why

Quran: Al Mu'min is built to keep your data on your device. We collect as little as possible:

  • Your reading position, bookmarks, notes, dhikr and khatm progress, and app settings, all stored locally on your device.
  • Your approximate or precise location, used only on your device to compute accurate prayer times and the qibla direction. Your coordinates are never sent to us or anyone else, and we never request background location.
  • If you turn on adhan reminders, prayer-time notifications scheduled locally on your device.
  • Reciter audio you choose to download for offline listening, saved in the app's private storage on your device.
  • Anonymous, aggregated usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) and crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics), tied only to an anonymous app-install identifier, not to your name or an account.

Legal bases (GDPR Article 6)

  • Performance of our agreement with you (providing the app and its core features).
  • Your consent, for optional diagnostics and, where applicable, personalised advertising; you can withdraw consent at any time in the app or device settings.
  • Our legitimate interests in keeping the app secure, stable, and free of abuse, balanced against your rights.
  • Compliance with legal obligations, such as tax records for purchases.

Service providers and recipients

We share data only with processors that help us run the app:

  • Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics), for anonymous usage and stability reporting.
  • Quran.com (reciter catalogue) and the Quran CDN (audio.qurancdn.com), which serve the recitation audio you stream or download; they receive no personal data from you.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play, for app distribution and updates.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside your country. Where they do, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

On-device data lasts only as long as the app is installed. Diagnostics are retained for a short period in aggregated form.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port your data, and to object to certain processing. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Al Mu'min needs no account and keeps your data on your device, so deleting the app removes everything: settings, bookmarks, reading progress, and any downloaded audio. Your location is never stored or transmitted. For full details, including the anonymous analytics tied to your app install, see Delete your Al Mu'min data.

Al Mu'min has no account, so there is nothing to sign out of or close. To remove your data, see Delete your Al Mu'min data.

Children

These apps are not directed to children under the age required by your local law for digital consent, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect information. No method is perfectly secure, but we work to keep risk low.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date. Last updated 19 May 2026.
